Humanities includes the studies of History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, and Economics and Business. These are covered at Year 7 through our integrated learning program CONNECT. In Year 8, the students engage in units and learning activities related to each of the four strands across the Humanities curriculum.
Students will engage in research, creative thinking and open-ended tasks that involve problem-solving, developing an understanding of the responsibility they have as critical global citizens, and what it means to contribute to society.
Objectives in Humanities
- To equip students with skills that go beyond school as informed citizens and participants of a global community.
- To gain a deeper understanding of our societies past and present, as well as potential futures.
- Create a supportive yet challenging learning environment that fosters growth and an appreciation of inquiry.
CONNECT
CONNECT engages students in an integrated English and Humanities program that focuses on developing the skills and knowledge to actively contribute to society, including speaking and listening, reading and viewing, and writing.
Research demonstrates that students create more real-world connections in an integrated classroom, as they become more actively engaged in their learning.
